Introduction

Introduction

A Pressure-Dependent Bypass Variable Air Volume (VAV) Box is an HVAC component used to regulate airflow to different zones in a building while maintaining comfort and energy efficiency. 

Unlike pressure-independent VAV boxes, these units do not have a direct flow measurement device. Instead, they modulate airflow based on duct pressure changes and bypass excess air back to the return plenum or duct.

  • Lining:  Closed cell elastomeric foam for sound attenuation is provided as standard. Options are available. 

  • Inlet Sizes(mm): 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400 diameter options

  • Outlet Sizes: Varies as per general arrangement drawings

Bypass Outlet: Integrated bypass damper with airflow regulation

Control & Compatibility

Actuation Options:

  • Electronic (modulating actuator, 24V/230V control signal)

  • Thermostat Compatibility: Compatible with standard modulating analog or digital thermostats

  • Control Signal Type: 0-10V DC 

Integration: Can be used with building automation systems (BAS) (modulation however is only temperature based and actual air flow data can be monitored on BAS since inlet airflow will always remain constant (part directed into the conditioned space and part bypassed)
